Back to the days of yore, where people only had the horse-drawn sleighs to move around in. Covered by thick blankets in winter, the sun warm in one’s face, only the harness jingling – time for beautiful thoughts. Simply relaxing and easing the soul. In summer, the sleigh was also an important means of transport. From hay to wood, all the way to the family members, everything was transported with the sleigh or carriage. The utility vehicle from the working week was decorated with flowers or branches on Sundays and presto, it was a festive carriage.
Today, the carriage in summer and the sleigh in winter (you use the wheels on the road, and when going onto the snow, the runners are lowered and you continue the ride with the sleigh) are very popular with the children. The unorthodox rhythm of the horses turns each ride into something special.
The rides are organised one day a week by the holiday region Gitschberg-Jochtal in Meransen. In the summer these are even free of charge for the children who received the Fairytale Card from their place of accommodation. The farmer will however also arrange other dates upon enquiry, so that families can go for a ride. Up to 11 adults fit in a carriage. The tour leads across Außereggen, the Fitness Path, past the valley station of the cabin lift and back to the village and takes about an hour – depending on the mood of the horses on the day.
